The Works

As a new guest, you get the works. The new client experience is an all-inclusive, immersive experience. It includes everything necessary to set you on the path to your best hair yet.

Whether you’re a new guest, a guest that have not been seen in 5 months, or a guest that have had services with another Curl Specialist, we begin with preparing the hair by detoxing to begin the rehydration process for your curls.

The reason for this is because after about 4 months, you have an accumulation of all types of buildup that causes appointment times to take longer, styles not lasting, and overall experience despite your regimen.

What You Get:

New Client Experiences includes a detox, rehab treatment to reset the hair, as well as education.

We’ll cover effective cleansing and detangling techniques, product application, and styling techniques. For the Grand Finale, we finish with a dope cut. Well, as dope as we’re allowed to get.

Expectations

✔️ Come with an open mind. Think as though you know nothing (even if you’ve been to a specialist) and you came to fill your cup. You will leave full. You’ll get education that will take you beyond the salon. There’s a lot to unlearn and deconstruct. If you are triggered by unlearning, this may not be the space for you, as this is a learning center.

✔️ Guests who have had the new guest experience call it “fun and interactive”, as well as, “overwhelming, but in a good way”. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I’d be rich.

✔️ Mitigate your expectations. If your hair is chronically dehydrated, or have been imprisoned in protective styles, don’t expect much from your hair. All you can do to get the best possible outcome, is to follow Prep Instructions and consider cleansing every 5-6 days to speed up the rehydration process.

  • Signature Curl Therapy Session

    Designed to catapult you into your own curl goals. This session aims to restore your hair’s natural integrity, for those who are ready to embrace their hair’s natural beauty. This results in curls defined in it’s own natural curl pattern, with a bespoke shape.

  • Twist Out Therapy

    Not sure if you’re ready to embrace your own natural curls? Opt for a Twist Out. In this session, you’ll never have to retwist every night. EVER. You’ll learn everything you need to know to achieve a twist out with longevity, resulting in twists taken out, dried, and fluffed with a dope shape.

Or maybe you’re a returning client who don’t want the detox and rehab services. Here are your options:

However, to maintain the overall well-being of your hair and longevity of your styling, I highly suggest the appoint with the detox and rehab.)

21 Day Curl Detox

Prior to scheduling, a 21 day detox is required as a starting point for your upcoming curly hair journey with us. This gently removes surface buildup, ensuring optimal results for our specialty curl and color services.

Foregoing this step might mean salon time, results that are just okay, and potential additional costs for detangling and extra detox, all depending on your hair’s mood. Grab the specified shampoo, conditioner, and styler shown in the Wash Hour Resource Guide and commit to using them for at least 21 days leading up to your appointment, or 30 days for more optimal results —your hair will thank you!

Don’t Have Time For Prepping

As a Curl Expert, I would like to highlight the importance of proper preparation before your service. I prioritize excellent results.  Proper preparation is crucial. Inadequate preparation leads to higher costs, longer detangling time, longer styling time with mediocre results, and extended drying. You have options: 

VIP OPTION

Tailored for clients who prefer no preparation, yet in urgent need of a customized curly cut to suit their unique curls. This is 6 hours of 1 on 1 time with an expert.  To make your VIP experience even more enjoyable, we provide refreshments throughout the session. 

Clients opting not to prep, need the whole kitchen sink, and should mitigate expectation of results.

Questions you may have

  • Not as a new client. Not on highly compromised hair. We exclusively partner with clients who prioritize hair care. We take pride in keeping the integrity of the hair. This is done by not people -pleasing to prioritize a look over the integrity of the hair.

  • No. If we did flexi rods, it wouldn’t be for a new client. It would be on a canvas that is so healthy, it requires little effort and dries fast because it’s not dehydrated, and the cost of the service would be $125/hr not to include drying time.

  • I don’t think we have time to explain all that. Just know we would spend a lot of time undoing what has been done in the past. More products will need to be used. More product = more time to apply + more $$. We will spend a lot of time detangling. The service will end up being at LEAST 5 hours long. Maybe even 6. Sometimes, 7. This will domino into the next client’s personal schedule, as well as your specialist’s. You are the only person that should have to pay for your neglect. So, if your lifestyle doesn’t allow for you to follow the regimen book a VIP Day. We’ll clear the book for you, and we’ll laugh about it over lunch.

  • Only for current clients who have been educated with a new client service and is implementing this practices at home. As a first time client, you can book a lesson for Kid-Ease: a 1:1 hair care lesson for anyone that wants to learn how to care for their curly/coily kids.
